Kike Yamakawa
Blend the power and technique of Jazz with the intricacy of Funk, add the soul of Hip Hop, the passion of Latin, a touch of grace and fluidity of Ballroom, all together with a cross-cultural flavor of Japan and South America, and you have the uniqueness that is Kike Yamakawa. Kike’s career as an entertainer began at the age of 7 years old when he was featured as a regular on a children’s talent television program in South America. Meanwhile he studied and performed all kinds of dance including the traditional folkloric dance of his native Peru. Kike first arrived to Tokyo nearly 20 years ago where through his drive, talent and personality was able to quickly build a huge network and resume in the entertainment industry. On the stage, he has worked as an Avex Trax Dancer with numerous Japanese Pop Artists, and as a dance regular at Velfarre. Behind the camera, he has appeared in various music videos and TV commercials with artists such as Koda Kumi, Hitomi, L’Arc en Ciel, Cyndi Lauper, Diana Ross and Bobby Brown. Kike has also established himself as a prominent instructor, choreographer and producer in the talent industry. In addition to teaching dance throughout Tokyo, he has worked as a model coach, director and choreographer for Miss Universe Japan and John Robert Powers. In 2003, Kike moved to Las Vegas to work with grand companies such as the Palms Casino Resort, MGM Grand Hotel and Venitian Hotel. While in Las Vegas he also continued working in talent development, training future models and dancers as well as organizing, choreographing and directing numerous fashion and dance showcases. After having returned to his roots in Tokyo two years ago, Kike has worked with various Japanese TV personalities for Fuji TV along with several TV commercials and music videos. Most recently, Kike worked for 5 months as a dancer for magician, Magic Cyril, on his Japan tour. Now, Kike is ready and eager to take all his experience and knowledge of dance, entertainment and talent and pass it on to the next generation. He feels that in Japan, there is so much potential and it is time to bring it out and nurture it. He also wishes to share his passion for life and vivacious and inspiring personality with those who want a taste of dance and have a fab time. |
